RFID (stands for Radio Frequency IDentification) is a data storage and recovery system… –> that works via radio remotely and uses devices known as labelscards, transponders or tags RFID. The fundamental aim of this RFID technology is to transmit the identity of an object (similar to a unique serial number) via radio. RFID technologies are grouped within the branch of Auto ID (automatic identification).

RFID Tags are small devices, similar to labels that can be affixed to or incorporated in products, animals or people. They include an antenna that enables them to transmit and receive data to and from an RFID reading device. Passive RFID labels do not require an internal power source, whereas active RFID labels do. One of the main advantages of RFID in comparison with infra-red, for example, is that line of sight is not required between transmitter and receiver.
